The name

Kabkad is Carcar's old name.

Before it was Carcar, the town was called Kabkad, short for Kabkaban, after a sturdy fern that grew all over it. We took the name because this gym belongs to the South Coast.

Kabkad Jiu Jitsu opened in 2025 on the second floor of FD Center Carcar in Brgy. Valladolid. We train Gi, No-Gi and Boxing six days a week under 90/Eight Jiu Jitsu PH, one of Cebu's established Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teams.

It's a small room with a serious mat. Beginners train right next to competitors, and everybody is welcome.

Lineage

Part of the 90/Eight family.

98 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association logo

Kabkad is an official affiliate of 90/Eight Jiu Jitsu PH, the 98 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association, founded in 2010 and based in Cebu City.

That means a proven curriculum, belts that carry weight, and a much bigger team to train and compete with.
